The utils/woptipng.py script is included in Wesnoth's source code. Free/OSS, but note that though it is capable of saving PNGs, it is not capable of handling transparency. Paintbrush (Mac OS X) is a program intended to be a slightly modernized clone of the old MacPaint/MSPaint. Paint.NET (Windows) is generally regarded as inferior to the Gimp or Photoshop, but is easier to look at for those with shorter attention spans, so some might find it of interest. If you use a mac, Pixen is probably a better idea. It is a simple, straightforward pixel editing program. JDraw (for anything that can run Java - mac and windows included) is an image editor which has a subset of the features of Pixen, and a superset of the features of MSPaint. This program was written in cocoa, and has a very good interface - version 3 will even include built-in support for making animations. Pixen (Mac OS X) is the OpenSword Group's tool for traditional SNES style sprite art - unlike most other editors, it has been designed for that specific task, and users may find it much less daunting than the Gimp or Photoshop. Seashore provides the basic features of GIMP. Seashore (Mac OS X) this port of the the GIMP to a cocoa-based gui is recommended. Pencil2D lets you create traditional hand-drawn animation (cartoon) using both bitmap and vector graphics. The program is mostly developed on Linux and Windows, but is also portable on many other platforms. Specialized in 256-color drawing, it includes a very large number of tools and effects that make it particularly suitable for pixel art, game graphics, and generally any detailed graphics painted with a mouse. GrafX2 is a bitmap paint program inspired by the Amiga programs Deluxe Paint and Brilliance. MtPaint intented to easily create pixel art and manipulate digital photos. Present in Linux packages (Debian/Ubuntu) and available in source on GitHub, but Windows/MacOsX binary is sold on home page. Works on Linux/Windows/MacOsX.Īseprite is animated sprite editor & pixel art tool. The GIMP (Windows, Linux & Mac OS X) the "Gnu Image Manipulation Program" is recommended. These programs are Open-Source Software, like wesnoth, meaning they are free to use, and that you are free to look at the sourcecode. The following are free image editing programs which can be used to create graphics for wesnoth. A program capable of those will have to be applied to images made with MSPaint when they are finished. However, there are two major and vital things lacking in those programs - first, these programs cannot make images with transparent pixels, and second, they may not be able to save in the PNG format used by Wesnoth. Cursors are actually icons but the filename ends with the ".cur" extension.Big Note: It is mostly-possible to make wesnoth graphics with nothing more than MSPaint or Appleworks. Additionally, you can export cursors from CUR files. All selected icons are highlighted in the preview with a dashed line and they also instantly appear in the output preview field as PNG images. For example, you can enter numbers "1, 2, 5" and that will extract icons one, two, and five. You can also specify the icon positions that you want to extract in the options. To select an icon, click on it in the preview area to deselect an icon, click on it again. You can convert all icons to PNGs at once, or selectively select one or more icons to be converted. The information includes the dimensions of the icons and their actual data type (usually, this it's BMP or PNG). In the options, you can find the information about each icon that's found in the ICO file. As soon as you upload an icon file to the input, the program parses it, finds all the icons it contains, and draws all the found icons in the preview area. An ICO file is an image file format that usually contains several smaller images of different dimensions that are used as favicons on web pages and represent Windows (and also OSX/MacOS) programs, files, and folders. This browser-based program extracts icons from an ICO file and saves them as PNG format images.

When we created Courseware, we took a wide range of devices into account. Some have the latest phones, tablets, or laptops with the most recent OS update, and others have slightly older models. Unless you have a classroom or lab set of devices, the types of devices used by students are diverse when it comes to both hardware and OS. If a student wants to access Complete Anatomy after the subscription lapses, they have the option to buy a mobile download for an additional fee. The price for the Student Plus version of Complete Anatomy is currently half off for the first year at $34.99 and then $74.99 for the next year or any after. They can also incorporate Visible Body’s totally free lab manual content. Instructors have the option to reduce or remove additional lab costs to students by using the features in Courseware to host online anatomy labs and dissection quizzes.Bulk pricing is also available for institutions. Courseware offers a low cost to students and expanded access-a one-year subscription is $49.99 and a two-year subscription is $64.99.Instructors talk to us a lot about getting the best value for the school and the students’ budgets and we crafted Courseware with all their feedback in mind! It’s not just the lecture materials there are often lab fees to cover the expensive price of cadavers or specimens, and the cost of a lab manual.Often, the student retakes A&P and has to buy the subscription again. But when the subscription ends, students lose all access. Subscriptions that include traditional textbooks with media bundles cost over $150 from the big publishers (you can knock that cost down if students rent the textbook or buy it used and purchase just the publisher’s media access).PricingĬost is an important factor for institutions, instructors, and students alike, especially in a field like A&P. Both Courseware and Complete Anatomy have 3D models, animations, courses, and quizzing features, so we’ll take a look at how these two products compare along the dimensions of price, portability, content, customization, and user experience. To illustrate these points, we’ll be discussing the features of Visible Body Courseware and a similar product, 3D4Medical’s Complete Anatomy (Student Plus Version). You don't have to take our word for it! Check out this Q&A given by instructors, for instructors at HAPS 2019. The détournements in Fin de Copenhague clearly fall into the category of minor. They distinguish between “minor détournements” (the use of insignificant elements such as press clippings and ordinary photos) and “deceptive détournements” (the use of significant elements such as famous political slogans or films). Wolman outline the theory of using pre-existing artistic elements in a new ensemble - the theory obviously owes a lot to Dada. In “ Methods of Détournement,” a text published in 1956, a year before the formation of the Situationist International revolutionary group, Debord and Gil J. Jorn and Debord’s answer to this unduly confident claim is a page of nothing but splatters.ĭebord’s title-page credit drew attention to the book as an act of détournement (literally “diversion”). “Le problème est résolu” declares one of the clippings. Fin de Copenhague is a premonition of the most disenchanted and deconstructed pages of Adbusters half a century later. Ironic attacks on consumerism are highly familiar now, to the point of triteness, but 55 years ago, with economic “abundance” still an enticing promise, the Situationists’ critique of materialism was new. The imagery is mainly line art - drawings of a car, a ship, women’s faces, cigarettes, whisky and beer bottles, logos and cartoons - and the mood is dismissively satirical. In 2008, a student at the Delft University of Technology named Bart Lans reconstructed the two sides of the sheet to show how the components would have looked before assembly.įin de Copenhagen: reconstruction of both sides of the 16-page sheet by Bart Lans, 2008 When the sheet was trimmed and bound, the formerly continuous marks and colors of Jorn’s carrying structure produced random collisions of colour and shape on the spreads. The abstract shapes, like the frenetic daubings of a monkey wielding a paint brush, were printed on both sides of the sheet in gradated color, and the collage elements were printed in black on top of them. At the printer next day, Jorn dribbled ink on to the zinc plates from the top of a ladder these were then etched. As the story goes, not long after they had arrived in Copenhagen Jorn and Debord stole a pile of newspapers and magazines from a newsstand, which they cut up to make 32 collages. The book’s pages ripple with coarse trails of pigment and explode with wild energy. The original, unreproducible covers, made of super-tactile flong embossed with pages from newspapers, were all different.Īsger Jorn and Guy Debord, spreads from Fin de Copenhague In fact, I couldn’t say now why I did pick it up, many years ago, because it has the plainest, most misleading cover. What I do have, and show here, is a reprint published in 1986 by Editions Allia in Paris (it was reprinted again in 2001). Christie’s sold a copy in 2011 for $14,427. Either way it was pulled off with a dizzying burst of speed and with nonchalantly scathing brilliance by the Danish artist Asger Jorn, credited as main author, and the French theorist and writer Guy Debord, who is named as “technical adviser for détournement” - back to that in a moment.įin de Copenhague (Goodbye to Copenhagen) will be familiar, at least by reputation, to scholars and admirers of the Situationists, and perhaps to aficionados of the artist’s book, though not many will have perused an original copy since only 200 were printed by Permild & Rosengreen in Copenhagen, and published by Jorn’s “ Bauhaus Imaginiste” in May 1957. Releasing on Xbox One before PC seemed like an odd choice at the time, but Bless Unleashed combat is well suited towards playing with a controller. It’s hard to gauge exactly how many people are still running around Lumios, but its barren subreddit and low ranking on some popular online trackers indicate that it definitely could use a pick-me-up. It was also riddled with bugs and “lacked the technical polish” seen in its peers, relegating it to a short lifespan and a low player population. Upon it’s Xbox release this February, critics found the title to be a standard MMO that didn’t do much to push the genre forward. The lands you can roam are generally pretty crowded with quarry, so you never have to wander too far to find a new target. While your dog – whom we affectionately dubbed Joh Yowza – tracks down your next victim, it’s remarkably freeing to gently lope through a forest with naught but the sounds of nature as your company. All six of the levels offer wildly different biomes, and are all relaxing to wander through. Letting your dog do the tracking leaves you free to take in the beauty of the environments. There are a number of approaches, but far and away the best is to bring a companion tracking dog with you, and, yes, you can pet them. This dedication to proper procedure, while maybe a nuisance on the surface, is, after all, the whole point.Īll of this makes up about half the game, while the other half is actually tracking down your prey. You have to keep track of how many of a given animal you’ve hunted, use the correct calibre, take a specific number of shots, and more. The game dedicates its time to making sure you hunt properly, requiring all the paperwork and faff that goes with prepping for a hunt. Ultimately, it serves a better role as an educational walking simulator. Sure, on the most basic level, it’s a shooter – but you’ll pull the trigger so rarely that it barely qualifies, despite the large number of weapons and gear at your disposal. While the title may suggest violence and shooting, Hunting Simulator 2 is a surprisingly meditative game. Mikehalloran wrote: It doesn’t work in High Sierra since there is no Repair Disk. The drive is still under warranty, but he told me to first try a low level format, i.e. The read speed was fine, but the write speed was less than half what it should be. After I erased the disk, I did a speed test. She did not have trim enabled when she used it in the MacBook Pro, because the OWC guy said not necessary. It's to determine if I can still turn it on, after the fact, and if it will do me any good to do so. this post is not about that, so let's not. I've seen arguments here about the necessity of enabling trim or not. So the second part of my question is, how do I trim enable all the volumes, not just the startup drive? The Terminal command line to enable trim that we see out there is always for the startup drive, I've never found how to do non-startup volumes? Or does it turn it on for all SSDs at once? I'm running OS Sierra. I have the startup/system drive, my DP projects drive, and a library/sample drive. But the EVOs absolutely did need to have trim enabled. I definitely don't want to wear out the performance of the drives, but I wonder if it's too late to turn trim on? Would I potentially mess things up? And if it's not too late, would it even be beneficial? The E2 blade is an OWC product and they claim that it's not necessary to enable trim for their SSDs, but I have to confirm that with them tomorrow. I was actually advised not to by the store guy, because there were problems with the EVOs (turned out it wasn't really an issue with Macs, but I bought his story). Man, it was like buying a new computer! But. I now have only one 4TB spinner left, for storage/archiving. It started with the startup spinner needing to be replaced, but then I got SSD fever and bought more. Last winter I outfitted my old Mac Pro with 3 EVO 850s, and an OWC Accelsior E2 PCIe blade, all 1 TB. |
